August 2026

Hi Friends,

There’s something about this last stretch of summer in Whistler—the days are still long, the trails and lakes are busy, but there’s already a subtle shift in the air. Before we know it, the pace of summer will give way to September routines and the first hints of ski season.

Speaking of ski and snowboard season, Whistler Blackcomb officially kicked off its countdown to winter with November 20 as its target opening date for the 2026.27 ski and ride season.

What's New This Season at Whistler Blackcomb?

Coming winter 2026.27, guests will enjoy enhanced access to Blackcomb Mountain's alpine terrain with the replacement of the Showcase T-Bar with a new quad chairlift, providing improved access to Horstman Glacier and Blackcomb Glacier terrain.

Whistler Blackcomb is also raising the bar on mountain food with a significant investment to elevate its most popular dishes. Ski-day classics like chili, burgers, pizza, fries, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and mac and cheese are all getting elevated with higher-quality ingredients and refined presentation.

In addition, on-mountain dining experiences will see a host of refreshed culinary offerings this winter, including the return of breakfast at Dusty's, a renovated Pika's at Roundhouse featuring a new coffee bar and elevated comfort fare, and enhanced outdoor patio experiences at both Steeps Grill & Wine Bar on Whistler Mountain and Christine's On Blackcomb.

These reimagined spaces blend elevated mountain dining with inviting comforts, including lounge seating, fire pits, and unique outdoor activations. Additional details on winter events, experiences and seasonal offerings at Whistler Blackcomb will be announced in the coming months.

A Little More Momentum

There’s a noticeable shift happening in Whistler.

While the broader economic picture remains mixed, the last few weeks have brought a meaningful increase in activity. We’re seeing more buyers in town, renewed interest in well-positioned properties, multiple-offer situations on select listings, and even back-up offers moving into place.

It’s worth paying attention to—not because the market has suddenly turned, but because activity tends to lead the numbers.

As we move toward September, we’re entering a seasonally important window for Whistler real estate. Buyers begin thinking beyond summer and toward ski season, while September traditionally brings an increase in activity as people return from summer travel and make decisions that have been building throughout the year.

The economic backdrop still matters. Affordability, consumer confidence and the direction of interest rates will continue to influence decisions. But in a market like Whistler, scarcity and timing can be just as influential as the broader economy. When the right property comes to market, buyers who have been waiting can move quickly.

Looking Ahead to Winter Season Rental Revenues

Tourism Whistler’s latest Winter 2026/27 Full Season Pace Report shows booked room nights have improved 29% since June 1 and are now pacing ahead of last winter. Festive Season and BC Spring Break are particularly strong, while November and April remain softer.  It is really encouraging is the strengthening pace through the core winter months.

For Phase 1 and hotel properties, where nightly rental opportunities are directly connected to visitor demand, this is an important piece of the picture. Combined with the increase in activity we’ve seen in town through late July and into August, it feels like the market is beginning to find a little more momentum as we approach winter.

Heading into fall, I’m watching less for a dramatic market shift and more for whether this early momentum continues and whether increased activity translates into stronger sales numbers over the coming months.

The next few weeks should tell us a lot.

New Listings

Some awesome new listings have come on the market, including Snowridge Circle—a 2.5-bedroom lofted suite perched right over the Dave Murray Downhill.

It isn’t zoned for nightly rentals, but for a part-time Whistlerite who is prioritizing location, this one is so good. Being able to look out over one of Whistler’s most iconic ski runs and have that mountain access right outside your door is hard to replicate.

If Blackcomb is your fancy, there’s also an Exclusive Listing/ Off market being offered by a colleague in Pinnacle Ridge, on Glacier Drive. A four bedroom + loft with a TV room, movie theatre, and gym- 3042 square feet of refined living space, ski in ski out with views and a few steps to the hill. Arguably of the nicest and best locations. Reach out if you’d like to learn more.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. I’ll be squeezing in a few nights in Vancouver with my kiddo before heading back to the mountains for the balance of the season.

And if you find yourself up here, I’d love to catch up over an iced tea.

Warmly,

Kathleen 604 353 3327
